Slow on purpose
The whole scene turns a fraction of a degree per second. Faster and it becomes a screensaver; slow enough to seem still is what makes you watch to see whether it moves at all.
MONOLITH · a relic in deep space
Only two objects: an upright slab and a ring. The slab is a minimal metal, its thickness read entirely by the rim highlight; the ring is a few hundred short bars, each turned a little differently, reading as one slowly rotating scale. Behind: three sizes of stars and two additive nebulae, while dust in front of the slab catches a weak light — everything moves, slowly enough to be almost imperceptible.
