Why the water is not a real reflection
A real reflection re-renders the whole scene, which an open valley shot cannot afford. Sky colour plus Fresnel plus one highlight already reads correctly from the bank, and the frame rate stays flat.
SAKURA · the valley at dusk
The blossoms are clouds of particles: each tree scatters a few hundred points in a sphere, jittered between pink and white — a mass at a distance, with gaps up close. The stream is a plane with a normal ripple, coloured by approximations of sky and bank plus a touch of Fresnel: cheap, but right when you stand on the bank. Petals fall with a sideways sway, rest two seconds on the surface, then drift downstream.
